Overview
The Project
For the Grand Opening of One&Only One Za'abeel, the world's first ultra-luxury vertical urban resort in Dubai, I contributed visual design work to one of the most ambitious experiential launches the region had ever seen. The project, led by Bureau Béatrice, set out to do justice to a building that was already rewriting the rules of architecture: two towers dramatically intersected by The Link, the world's longest cantilever, rising 300 metres above the city.
The Projection
The launch centred on a projection mapping experience that transformed the entire tower facade into a living canvas. I worked on developing visuals rendered across 29,000 sqm of mesh fabric, driven by 167 high-output laser projectors positioned across the building's lot. The creative concept was rooted in Dubai's own story: a city built on the tension between relentless ambition and profound respect for its heritage. Every visual sequence had to carry that duality, staying legible and emotionally resonant at hundreds of metres.
Three World Records
The result was a seven-minute show that ran across the entire opening weekend and made history: the longest projection mapping in the world, the largest architectural temporary projection mapping in the world, and the largest mesh screen projection in the world.
The Afterparty
Following the projection show, an exclusive after party brought together some of the world's biggest celebrities and tastemakers, with Jennifer Lopez headlining a live performance. I contributed to the stage lighting design, shaping the mood and atmosphere of the space to complement the energy of the performances.
